5 Tips for Managing Stress this Summer

Summer beach body ready? Cool. But your health should come first, both at home and work.

Here, Communicate Better shares five simple ways you can de-stress over the holiday period.

1. Focus on YOU


Before anything else, make sure to put time aside for yourself.

It's perfectly fine to be selfish once in a while and give yourself some undivided attention.

And it doesn't have to be a lot of time. Simply give yourself 10, 15 minutes a day during which you can relax, reflect, listen to music or even meditate. It will do you good.

2. Create an end-of-year game plan


While it's great to release some stress, one major stress release will come from shaping up a game plan and setting some goals for the months ahead.

Don't be afraid to include both your physical and mental health as part of this game plan, as well as all your work goals.

3. Share your goals

Set some goals for the year? Great! Now go and make them happen.

Talking to other people about your goals will really help set them in stone and even hold you accountable to see them through.

4. Know your limits


Rome wasn't built in a day, and if you're hoping to climb a few mountains without stopping for breath... don't!

If your gut tells you that somebody else will do a job better, get them involved. Play to your strengths and address your weaknesses.

5. Slow and steady wins the race


Finished your tasks for the week? That's perfect. Now go and relax and plan for the week ahead.

It's better to take your time and be ready for the following Monday morning than to be exhausted by your workload due to poor planning.
